The Foxhole Court by Nora Sakavic

4.0

This book was so good! I really liked the story although some parts of it made me furious. I think in some way all stories need good and bad things, so I will talk about those now.

Good things:
●The first point I want to talk about is Palmetto State University, short PSU, the setting of TFC. The decision to make it a co-ed university and make it have co-ed sport teams was just amazing because it establishes an even bar between men and women. I also really like the way they handle and treat their sport teams. They genuinely want them to not only do sports but to also keep up with their classes.
●My next Point are the Foxes, PSU's Exy team. I think the dynamic between the different members on and of the court is brilliant. Even though they've got some problems between each other they still are a team with an really structurized team hierarchy.
●Now, I'm gonna talk about some characters that stood out in a special way for me. First, Neil Josten. Neil's backstory is very tragic but it explains a lot about him and why he is the way he is. Second, Andrew Minyard, a character I'm not sure what to think of for now. He seems very careless and his usage of medication alcohol and drugs is highly controversial in my opinion. And third, Coach Wymack. Even though I can not always remember his first name, he is my absolute favourite character. The way he treats his Foxes is so unique. He may be hard on them but that is because he wants them to be the best version they can be of themselves. He also sees the good in people and tries to get ut out of those.

Bad things:
●Now, a point which makes me so furious with the book and the characters sometimes. I mean, of course, the usage and abuse of drugs and alcohol. Both are no strangers to a lot of the Foxes, especially Seth as well as Andrew and his lot. The latter consume both on a regular basis, ehat in my opinion is highly inappopriate. And poor poor Seth which I thought was a very cool character later overdosed on Anti depressives.

So, to aum all that up The Foxhole Court is in my opinion a highly interesting read which captures the essence of sport, teamwork and human nature perfectly. Just because there were some disturbing topics pointed out in the book it really is an amazing book. I can't wait to continue reading the series in The Raven King.
