The Floating Girls by Lo Patrick
4.0
In the backwoods of Georgia, Kay lives with her parents, two older brothers and a sister who doesn't speak or go to school. Now a pre-teen, Kay is sensing that her parents have secrets, and starting to question the mystery of her sister. She is also starting to crush on the neighbor boy across the swamp. I loved the voice of the fiesty young protagonist, Kay. This was a 5-star read until the last few chapters, when the momentum slowed and one of the mysteries wasn't explained, which is fine, but the end felt abrupt. I loved the atmosphere too, the strong sense of place.
