Enshadowed by Kelly Creagh
5.0
With Varen plunged into the dream world, held captive by the demon Lilith, Isobel knows she must save him. But how can she? She has no idea how to go back. She becomes so obsessed with finding him that all other aspects of her life are shoved to the backburner and things begin to go downhill. Her parents and friends are convinced that she is slowly going insane and the police are suspicious that she might have knowledge of Varen's sudden disappearance. However, she finds an unlikely friend in the midst of chaos and with the courage of many within herself, Isobel fights her way back into Varen's dream world.
But. . .when she returns, will he already be too far gone?
Kelly Creagh is back with a smashing sequel to the first installment of this series. I was not disappointed in the least. I don't even think I'd finished Nevermore more than ten minutes when I picked up Enshadowed (don't you just love Kindle One-Click?!). Kelly Creagh is a masterful storyteller, adept at writing detailed, thought provoking descriptions and relatable, unforgettable characters that are forever branded within your mind.
This book nearly killed me with suspense. Isobel's lack of progress in finding Varen kept me turning the page because I was just as frustrated and miserable as she was. I NEEDED to know because I couldn't forget Varen. This is because Creagh had burned him into my mind like a cattle brand. I couldn't help but feel an earning pain for his absence and unfortunately, she has a knack for making the reader fall in love even more with Varen even though he isn't physically in at least ninety percent of this book.
I absolutely adore how Creagh linked the works and life of Edgar Allen Poe to such a compelling story. In fact, modern books, laced with plots that bend history as we know it are one of my favorite kinds. However, something about this book was even better.
