A Pale Shade of Winter by L.B. Stimson
5.0
What I Did Like:
-The setting. This is a gothic style novel set in Louisiana in the 1800s. The setting is well researched and entertaining.
-The narrator of this audiobook does a fantastic job of reading with emotion. The soft voice adds to the tone of the story. Well narrated book!
-Emotional. This book handles a lot of complex emotions, including grief. The author does a great job of keeping you hooked on the events in the story while still reminding you about the emotional costs of these decisions on the characters.
Who Should Read This One:
-Paranormal fans will enjoy the gothic undertones of this story, for sure.
-Historical fiction fans will enjoy the research that went into this one and the setting.
-Contemporary fans who don’t normally read historical fiction may enjoy this one. The emotions are raw and real enough to remind you of a contemporary story, even though it is set in the 1800s.
My Rating: 5 Stars. This one will appeal to readers of a few genres. The emotional story of this family drama pulls you right in and keeps your attention. Highly recommended.
