"I know there may be universes out there where I made different choices and they led me somewhere else, led me to someone else. And my heart breaks for every single version of me that didn't end up with you."

Maybe in Another Life was a thought-provoking novel following Hannah Martin whose life hinges on the choice she makes one night in LA to take a ride home from her ex-boyfriend Ethan or go home with her best friend Gabby. The novels follows two of the versions of her life that come out of this decision.

I thought it was beautiful to see so blatantly how the decisions we make impact the course of our lives. My favorite part about the alternating chapters with Hannah's two lives was that there were certain events that still happened no matter what decisions Hannah made and certain things that were still said by characters. As fate would have it I guess.

This book was also a lovely show of not only romantic love and how it knows no bounds within time, but also of platonic love (with both friends and family). Hannah and her best friend Gabby support each other through everything in their lives. Gabby's family also acts as a pseudo-family for Hannah when hers does not live nearby and they treat her as their own daughter throughout the course of the novel.
