OH MY GOD!! I'm so thankful The Son of Neptune didn't end up in such a cliffhanger as the first book but still, darn it was good 😍
This second book reminded me how much I love Percy and it definitely made me realised that he is one of my favorite characters of all time. I could literally read about him just chilling on a beach and I would still enjoy it because Percy is the light of my life! I'm so full of love right now, I just wish I was able to hug my baby ❤️
At the same time, there are new amazing characters being involved. I really like how we are getting to know these important characters little by little, discovering their secrets and tragic pasts because all of these sweet kids have horrible childhoods. I didn't particularly liked one of our main characters, Frank, though, he's just too weak and not really interesting for me. However, it's true that I didn't fully understand his upbringing, I don't know why I just couldn't wrap my mind around it which is weird.
In fact, my favorite new character from this book has to be Ella and she's a sidecharacter. Nevertheless, she's just the most sweet and intelligent "thing" there exists. As soon as she was introduced I knew I was going to love her.
Regarding the story, I still love the fighting scenes and this one felt a lot more powerful and I was able to mark a lot of empowering quotes from it. Riordan just has this thing that when I read a fighting scene all I want to do is get ready and fight alongside with my baby.
As I mentioned on my review for The Lost Hero, the only problem I found is that there are some predictable things going on from time to time that took away from the story. For instance, I never actually felt like the characters were really in danger which is the reason why I can't give this book the full 5stars mark but it's still going to my favorites list.
All in all, if you haven't read these books yet, I highly recommend them. They are just expectacular and one of the most entertaining books there exist. However, it had that minor issue with predictability but it's an incredible read nontheless.
