The Empress of Salt and Fortune by Nghi Vo

3.0

The ending made this book for me.

It starts off slow and very disconnected. Once you deduct that “Rabbit” is telling stories of the past, the cleric is there to record these stories as history.
PSA: All of the random items that belonged to the previous empress at the chapter beginnings is just a cue to lead into another story.

Once my brain deducted that part the story seemed to flow much better and I enjoyed it by the end. wd
Moral of the story, men ain’t shit.
