The Facemaker: A Visionary Surgeon's Battle to Mend the Disfigured Soldiers of World War I by Lindsey Fitzharris
5.0
This book was a very masterful blend of historical framework and personalized stories that kept me interested in both the subject of the book, Dr. Gilles, and the greater events of WWI. The book gave enough anecdotes to remind me that the characters and events were very real, while still conveying enough information to give an interesting perspective on medical advancements and just how recent certain surgical techniques are.
