Would recommend: Yes

Overall, I think the trilogy is very strong, unlike other series where I loved the first book and then things trailed off afterward (ahem, [b:The Hunger Games Trilogy Boxset|7938275|The Hunger Games Trilogy Boxset (The Hunger Games, #1-3)|Suzanne Collins|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1360094673l/7938275._SY75_.jpg|11349083] and [b:His Dark Materials|18116|His Dark Materials (His Dark Materials #1-3)|Philip Pullman|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1442329494l/18116._SY75_.jpg|1943518]). So, I would definitely recommend the series in general. Laini Taylor does an awesome job creating the worlds of her books, and her characters are likeable and realistic.

There were some plot things that I didn’t love in this book. The whole Eliza/godstar/Cataclysm aspect was so unnecessary. As if rebuilding Eretz weren’t enough for Karou and Akiva? I was a little overwhelmed by how much brand-new information was thrown in, and it was so complex. Bluh. Although I don’t cheer for people to die in books, it seems strange when no one does. I was bracing the whole time for one of the following people to expire: Mik, Zuzana, Liraz, Ziri, Issa. Not one! Again, not that I want their demise. But it was so odd. And then, the pairing of Liraz and Ziri was a little too tidy and convenient for me. I also felt dissatisfied that we didn’t get to see the opening of the cathedral and Amzalag (not sure on that spelling) reunited with his kids. I would have preferred that over the weird Elazael stuff.

But it’s good! The book is very well-written and consistent with the series, and I couldn’t put it down. Read it! It’s super fun.
