Trying (and failing) to see if I could add more books before the year's over so I joined the Storygraph's 2022 Onboarding Reading Challenge bc it sounded fun and tailored to my tastes but it's been back to back fails. The prompt here was to read a book someone on Similar Users gave 5 stars to and good for them (but how?) but this book is slow paced trash (to me) so I guess we're not so similar after all 😭 It drags so much! And I don't find this type of humor and writing particularly funny (maybe I'm dead inside idk) and the MC and her dog meant nothing to me and once I got the Lovecraft vibes from the story (confirmed when I read a review [but actually this is inspo from a short story by another weird fiction author who in turn influenced Lovecraft]) I knew I was ready to be done. I really don't like dnfing and had been lucky this year reading a lot of bangers and some other kinda bad but fun books that I was finishing everything I was starting but this book beat me. I just. Cannot. Go on. Nice cover though.
