Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand
5.0
Wow. Just wow. I am completely blown away by this story and even more so because it's based on a true story. The title and synopsis explain that this is a tale of WWII survival. Um, I should say so! Let's just say I wouldn't have lasted past day 1 on this journey. I don't want to give anything away but I will say that you don't have to love history to love this book. Yes, it takes place during WWII, but it's a personal tale weaved in through the events of those years. It will take you to the edge and back. It will make you question humanity and the human spirit. It will make you laugh, it will make you cry and it will make you angry. It may be premature to say this but I'm pretty sure this will be on my top five best books of 2014 list, if not the best book of 2014. It was published in 2010 but I've only just stumbled upon it now. I listened to the audio which was so great that I'd pull into my driveway and stay in the car for another twenty minute just to keep listening. An incredible story with just so much heart.
