This is probably my 3rd read of this and my favorite of the original trilogy. This book has everything: a giant murder clock, an octogenarian suicide rebel, Poseidon's bastard son, blood rain (not to be confused with Reign in Blood), a fake pregnancy, meth head eating monkeys, and Jeffrey Wright.
This book introduces some of my favorite characters - Finnick, Mags, Beetee, and Joanna. It provides great moments for Donald Sutherland to chew scenery in the movie. It's nonstop from go.
I really just wish the love triangle element could go away forever. In my ideal end, Katniss, Madge, Annie, and Joanna go live together in the woods free of all men and the emotional labor it takes to exist with them.
