This Ethiopian-inspired fantasy retelling of Jane Eyre was an incredible debut novel!

Andromeda is a debtera, an exorcist who is hired to cleanse homes of the Evil Eye. She is hired by Magnus Rochester to rid his home of the evil within it. However, all of the previous debtera who have worked for Magnus have either quit or died. So this job isn’t going to be easy, and may even risk Andromeda’s life.

I really, really enjoyed this novel. The premise was super interesting and I adored the characters. ALSO THE ROMANCE?!?!?! AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF JEMBER AND ANDROMEDA’S RELATIONSHIP? It was all executed wonderfully!

Some parts of the plot were quite slow but the ending was incredible! The final chapter and the epilogue BROKE MY HEART! I really enjoyed Magnus as a love interest, he was charming and made me laugh out loud on multiple occasions. I also loved how strong and optimistic Andromeda was. She was an amazing protagonist!

Ultimately, an incredible debut that I thoroughly enjoyed!
