This book was amazing! The scope was massive in plot and world, and I absolutely loved Vis as a main character. The pace is on the slow side, not because nothing is happening, but because Islington really takes his time showing off all the complex angles of the world. The politics has so many layers, the magic is unique and mysterious, and there's so much history that's still waiting to be revealed. It takes over 200 pages just to get to the school that's mentioned in the synopsis, but it doesn't feel like wasted time because there's just so damn much going on. My man Vis is scheming seven ways to sunday and everyone else is too. And the ending blew it all open! I can't wait to read what happens next!
