I never read this book in school. Then I read it with a student I was tutoring. I'm not sure how I feel about it. It was a bit more interesting than I expected and somewhat disturbing. It was quite a bit darker than I anticipated; even having a basic understanding of the plot, some of the events disturbed me. And the ending was a bit of a shock.
