The Princess Bride by William Goldman
fast-paced
4.0
Still good on a re-read but a bit more cringe than I remember. The actual story with Buttercup, Westley, Fezzik, and Inigo is still great—but the “asides” with the author and his random interjections weren’t always the best. Sorry I don’t want to read about how your son is fat, you don’t really love your bitch wife, and that you think young hot women should be into you. I just don’t care!
That being said, the story at the heart of the Princess Bride is still very good and very cute and very silly and very fun. Just an overall good time, my favorite being “The Bride”. I just loved the whole “Do this Farm Boy!” “As you wish” stuff going on. Buttercup and Westley are adorable, and I want Fezzik to never be alone again.
