This was another quite unique setting for a romance making use of a number of the more classic tropes. It was very much a slow-burn but wow the reward was so worth it! I had to take a break to cool off after the hotel scene 😅.

I loved the academia setting and the dive into the experiences of women in STEM, good and bad, and the intelligence of every single character stood out so clearly which I enjoyed - there were lots of great little quips. I did find the ending a little predictable but not entirely how I’d pictured it, so I wasn’t too mad about the whole situation.

The edition I read had the additional bonus chapter, which I felt was a slight stretch to refer to it as such with it just being the exact same scene from earlier in the book from a different perspective, but hey, it was equally steamy and I won’t deduct points for that.

This book had been on my radar for so long so I’m glad I finally got around to picking it up. I won’t say it had loads of special aspects to make it stand out in the romance world, but I enjoyed the story and felt it did its job very well! I would definitely return to Ali Hazelwood’s work again and would recommend picking this up if you’re a romance lover who also enjoys academia and grumpy/sunshine.

P.S.
