I really like the setting and writing of this book, as it perfectly complemented the horror plot and how creepy everything felt.
I hated how explicit the sexual assault scenes were, though I am aware that is a personal preference, and that they fit the story well. Likewise, the explicit racism is very uncomfortable, but it’s a reality of the region and time period.
Noemí is a delight and I loved following her, even if she was sometimes too vain or naive. I appreciated how feminine and how much herself she remained despite what she went through and how brave she had to be.
