I tried really hard to suspend my disbelief that Barron’s secret was so big Oaklyn would prefer to slum it with Brick in his roach-infested shack. So when I got to the plot twist at the 70% mark, I almost threw my Kindle! If the author had incorporated more context clues into the first half, maybe the big reveal wouldn’t have been so shocking. Fortunately, questions were answered and gaps were filled in as the book came to a close. The ending pulled on my heartstrings.
