She Said: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story that Helped Ignite a Movement by Jodi Kantor, Megan Twohey
5.0
This reads like a crime and thriller book. A brave, passionate behind the scenes look at the beginning of the #metoo movement. It beautifully illustrates how difficult it is to break silence, break the status quo and break expectation. Its an impactful read, we have all read the media coverage. But those snippets of conversation don't give you the full picture. "It's very hard to be the first into the breach". This is hard to read, be needed and informative. Would recommend to everyone. Let's now hope Weinstein gets a sentence he should, as Cavanagh did not. Otherwise you feel what was the point? At least there is comfort in the silence, to have the hope that if people knew they would be horrified, that they would believe you, and something would change. And then the fear that it won't. That even after everything nothing would really change?
