The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy
2.0
There were some truly lovely and powerful scenes of this book, however, I spent most of it being confused. There were several times where I found myself reading the page and realized that I hadn’t absorbed anything I had read. Roy loves using figurative language and does so beautifully, perhaps it was simply too figurative for me to grasp. I found the time jumps confusing and struggled to keep the timeline straight. I love that the book discusses the caste system and colorism. I might try to read another of her books to see if I can better understand her style. Unfortunately, this one just wasn’t for me!
