I almost DNF’d this book until we got to the chapter with the final 5 guys and that’s when i finally started to care about the plot happening. I understand that one of the best parts of a romantic reality show is the community talking about it, however the text messages from random fans, podcasts with ads, and article headers… it just didn’t translate well in a book. Personally, I think it would have worked better had there been one podcast that started each chapter and said their predictions and also referenced articles/talking points. There was just too much going on when it wasn’t focused on Bea’s pov. Also this book is heavy with fat phobia. I know this makes it realistic, especially for a plus size woman to be on tv to find love, but there also didn’t need to be that much. Including Bea’s self sabotaging, where no matter what the guys were saying she also took their words and twisted into something else. It’s understandable of course, but it happened with every single meeting with a guy and it was frustrating to read. It’s a good concept of a book, it just didn’t hit the mark for me.
