Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson

5.0

First buddy read ever and it was with my best friend! Grateful to have chosen a very relaxed buddy read schedule with her since life has been taking its toll on me lately, but reading three chapters a day for the past couple of weeks proved to be relaxing and helped me just... breathe.

I'm not sure when was the last time I read a standalone fantasy book... or if I have even read one before... was this my first? Lol. Anyway, my expectations were a bit high because of all the hype around it but Sorcery of Thorns actually delivered. To be more precise, I give it 4.5 stars not because of it being "slightly bad" but because of how it felt rushed on some parts. I guess this is understandable and totally not unusal for a standalone story though since the author only get to have one book to wrap everything up and I might have gotten used to reading fantasy books that are part of a series.

From its beautiful cover to its magical story that managed to not just incorporate books but actually build a world devoted to libraries, Sorcery of Thorns was a very easy book to fall in love with. x
