We all know how Snow ends up, yet you still feel bad for him throughout the book and wonder what possibly could’ve happened to him that puts him on the path of being President Snow. However I think the best part of this book was all the Easter eggs and connections to the original trilogy of The Hunger Games. It made it a lot of fun reading and seeing 1. The origins of certain things in the trilogy and 2. Why Katniss was the perfect symbol for the rebellion
The book has 3 parts, the first part of the book was very slow and was hard to get into. The second part is more interesting, but what made the original hunger games interesting was the perspective of being inside the arena. Being an outside/viewer to the games isn’t as interesting, but there are still a lot of things happening with Snow during that time. The third part of the book really made this worth reading for me. I don’t view this as a redemption story and it really doesn’t focus on the romance too much, it really is just a story of how Snow got his foot in the door.
