This book just left me so confused. It felt like I should have found the ending, and maybe even the whole book, incredibly profound and deep, but I’m not quite sure what I was missing.

I will say that it is a fascinating look into trauma and the responses which can come from this being so deep-set into your life and experiences. It looks at experiences and perceptions of mental illness, breaking cultural norms and how this is reacted to by family and society, and a surprising number of other topics given that this book was less than 200 pages.

I enjoyed the layout, with there being 3 separate short stories but leading on from each other and with the same characters but different perspectives. It was very unique and I did find myself wanting to come back for more a lot. The writing was beautiful at times too.

However, I just don’t think it was for me. I think I’d maybe need a degree in English literature to be able to take a bit more from it, but hey, lots and lots of people love it so it might be for you. 2.5 stars.
