This may be the filthiest book I've ever read. And I've read a lot of filthy books. But, even with all the smut (LOTS AND LOTS OF SMUT); this book packs an emotional punch.
When I started this, I noted it seemed long, even for a throuple book. That's because these men go THROUGH it. In all of the different combinations - together, apart, 2 on 2, 2 with one on video. The fact that 2 are pro athletes creates a dynamic that forces time together and apart. Its through this, that the angst is created. There is a lot of jealousy and insecurity. Difficult conversations. Its important for any poly book to build 4 relationships - each couple, and then the throuple. This book really walks through those dynamics in a way I haven't encountered with other similar books.
There is no glossing over the hard details and realities. There is always one of the partners feeling left out, angry, jealous, misunderstood..... There's a lot of angst around the emotional and sexual relationships. It seemed like one of them was always upset about something. This book took us through all of it until the full solid throuple was formed - at the very end. I wondered if it would ever happen! BUT - all told, this book kept me awake at night when I had to put it down, wondering how Vince, Elio, and Race would finally figure it out, separately and together. I was INVESTED.
I highly recommend this book - but check the content warnings, its not for the faint of heart!!!
