Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo

5.0

So if you read my review of Shadow and Bone you will know that I did not like Mal very much. I was a little torn but overall I was not a big fan. Well the sentiment continues. I will also say I like the Darkling more than I did before, even though he is supposed to be the big bad. Kinda like the dude though. Him and Alina feel very opposites attract.

About the actual story: I enjoyed it more than I did Shadow and that probably has something to do with the fact that there was much less Mal in this book. Did I mention I'm not his biggest fan? But besides less Mal, Siege and Storm introduced a TON of new, extremely likeable, characters. Let me tell you, I am not disappointed in the new characters that we got. I do feel though that I literally can't talk about any of them without a spoiler warning. So read the spoiler filled review if you want to hear my take on some of these amazing characters.

The arc of this book also really took me on a journey and I think that Alina has a lot of room to grow as a character in the next book and I really, really, really hope that it is done well. There is a lot that goes down in the book and I was extremely invested in all of it. There is also a lot that needs to go down in the next book and I am extremely excited to find out about it. There are a billion lose ends, a new favorite ship, and an evil dude to deal with. What more could I ask for?
