The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab
5.0
Welcome to my favourite shelf, Addie LaRue.
I love this book so much that I don't even know what to say about it so for now, I'm going to keep this short until maybe one day I can find the words to illustrate my love for it.
The writing in this book was stunning. It's a slow-moving story as we follow Addie LaRue's life over 300 years and it's told in a way that makes you want to savour every moment and lesson. It was so deeply moving and written with such aching and longing! This is a story that's written for the lonely hearts, melancholy babies and romantics.
Addie LaRue was such an incredible character and not one I will be forgetting anytime soon. Henry Strauss was... Everything. There was so much about his arc that hit so deep and just thinking about him makes me want to start crying again, lol. Their story was woven together magnificently. It was absolutely heartwrenching and unbearably sad but there's enough happiness and hope in it that despite sobbing uncontrollably by the end, I closed the book feeling profound contentment. It was heartbreaking but it was also inevitable and satisfying because if this story had ended any other way, it would've felt untrue.
V.E. Schwab continues to prove why she's one of my all-time favourite auto-buy authors. This story has burrowed itself so deeply into my heart and I'm beyond happy to have space for it there.
