“I don’t even understand why I am still standing. Why am I still alive? Can’t people just die of pain?”
“You need to learn how to bargain, my beautiful.”
“I am in Hell, but it smells like my safe space.”

Alien romance with tropes like fated and rejected mates, forced proximity, and enemies to lovers. A great continuation of the previous book in the series, The Queen of Monsters.

The FMC, Gianna, was an interesting character with a dark and difficult past. I liked her inner monologue and thoughts about her issues and struggles. Even though she might have looked fragile and weak compared to the aliens, she was strong and fierce and didn’t need anyone to tell her what to do. The title Warrior Queen really fits her as a character!

I liked the relationship development and the slow burn between Gianna and the MMC, Zaan. There were times I was really frustrated with Zaan and his actions. He had a lot of rules for Gianna but never explained them or really asked questions of her. There were times when I really disliked him, but also times when I really liked him as a character. From the outside, he seemed like a monster, but on the inside, he was surprisingly sweet and cuddly.

The world-building was well-written, and the world continued to be interesting. The storyline itself was engaging without any dull moments.

It was nice to see familiar characters from the previous book, like Natalia and Jade. I haven’t read the first book in the series, The Ice Queen, yet, but it’s on my TBR.
