Amazing story, complex world building, and truly wonderful writing. Can’t wait to read the rest of this series. This book is a sci-fi fantasy, where certain people have the ability to manipulate the earth. This ability ostracizes them from others (stills), but makes them incredibly powerful (and dangerous).
I really really loved the writing in this story. It follows 3 different timelines/people, and the writing for each section is just so unique and fascinating. I particularly loved the sections following Essun—I don’t think I’ve ever read a book in second person, but I’m in love with it. The writing was just top notch all the way through. I’ll admit to being confused for the first part of the book, but as we were introduced to more of the world, things slowly came together and started to make sense. Brilliant story and writing.
