I am as stunned as anyone else who follows my reviews that I am giving a pure romance a 5-Star rating.

This book was like if Camilo in American Fairytale had realistic and understandable reactions to Thomas's money. (As much as anything can be realistic in a romance where one person has abandonment issues from parents who left when he was 10 and the other has inherited a multimillion dollar marketing firm.) I also love reading gay versions of my favorite 90s & 00s romance and romcom movies, and this was basically M/M adaptation of The Wedding Date (the one with Amy Adams and Debra Messing).

Seeing realistic stakes in a romance novel was nice, too, I am thankful that the only stake here was the fear from past relationship trauma. No one was trying to save a building or take care of a kid or start a business or fund a community project. Just two characters worried that the other will trigger their past emotional abuse, which is very relatable.

And the steam ... Y'all, this may be the best steam yet.

And I do need to find out what happens to Sebastian and Remington, so y'all can expect to see Book Two soon.
