The Captive Brides Collection by Gina Welborn, Carrie Fancett Pagels, Patty Smith Hall, Cynthia Hickey, Jennifer AlLee, Angela Breidenbach, Darlene Franklin, Lucy Thompson, Susan Page Davis
4.0
Each book offered a different perspective and take on history where the settings ranged from Australia to England to Colonial and Early America.
The top 2 stories that really stood out for me were:
His Indentured Bride by Angela Breidenbach
and
Waltzing Matilda by Lucy Thompson.
4 others took a close second to these 2:
Love's Labours Found by Jennifer AlLee
The Suspect Bride by Susan Page Davis
Moira's Quest by Cynthia Hickey
and
A Score to Settle by Gina Welborn
The other 3 were well written, but they didn't attract my attention as much.
Together, these stories gave a short, easy read of unconditional love, redemption, and forgiveness. The subject matters were harsh, but they were a reality of history. Poor souls who endured such treatment, these are stories showing women who overcame these pitiful times in history.
I highly recommend this book. And each gave me an interest in finding out more about certain aspects of that time, which is a good trait for a book.
