An Endless Memory by Marie Johnston
5.0
The meet cute here was pretty ….cute. Eliot is the last Knight brother to be paired up. But he listens to the crap in his head that his toxic parents taught him. As a result, he sacrifices his own happiness and lot for others. Feels he doesn’t deserve anything good. And to be honest - it started to get real annoying in the last half.
Lily was on the struggle bus. And, because Eliot is a nice selfless guy, he agrees to a marriage of convenience with Lily. But - jokes on him, he loves the domesticity of dating a single mom. He starts to love them and her. Lily starts out not believing that anyone would want to be part of her hot mess express - because she had a POS ex who treated her like garbage and made her second guess relying on her family for help.
Lily and Eliot are alike in that way - both believing they are burdens to their families and try to do everything alone. Stubborn idiots.
Eliot is totally an acts of service man. But he’s dumb and doesn’t realize it. And the two of them don’t actually talk about the fact they are developing a real relationship. This miscommunication just hurts both of them.
Of course all is well in the end. I did have some issue with the reconciliation seeming a little too fast and convenient. That’s the only complaint I have. That and the Oil Knights series is now done. But - we’ve got the Oil Dukes series starting next! Seems like this will feature Lily’s siblings, and we get the tee up for Violet’s book first.
