Nearly a decade since I first read this book, it was refreshing to still enjoy it as much as I did the first time. I didn't remember much of the book, only the feeling of how much I liked it before. But I had very little expectations, because a lot can change in 9 years, and I haven't read YA high fantasy in a while. I was pleasant surprised that not only was it a good read, I read it pretty quickly thanks to the easy language and cliffhanger endings on each chapter.

I loved how a lot of the characters were morally grey, and I was rooting (or sympathising) for everyone depending on who was narrating it. The book had a semi slow build-up but by the second half of it, I was digesting it so quickly. I've grown to like the characters more and more, especially from the three kingdoms. The only chapters that bored me consists of the watcher's POV. I hope that in the coming books, they would prove to be more useful. As for the first book, their chapters felt flat and useless. To sum it up, I had fun reading it and I wish I could have the rest of the series in my hands right now.
