This Poison Heart by Kalynn Bayron
adventurous
mysterious
4.5
Plants, Greek mythology, an old mysterious cottage & an LGBTQ+ rep what do you want more? I have not read much YA before because I always thought that it's not my jam but This Poison Heart was a very quick read which got very wild at the end.
I enjoyed the characters very much, I only wished they had a little bit more depth. Bri's whole personality was plants, which makes sense for the story but I still would have liked to know a little bit more about her. Her moms had a super cute dynamic. Marie still is very mysterious to me.
I found the book very hard to put down and I flew through it. I absolutely loved all the Greek mythology references and how they worked for the story.
The end was not what I would have expected. The last few chapters felt a little rushed in my opinion and they also were very graphic for YA. I enjoyed it and it definitely made me want to read the second book very soon! But overall I wished for the events to have a little more time to uncover.
Graphic: Death, Violence, Blood, and Murder
