I picked this up without realizing it was third in the series. So at the start, there was some confusion for plot points from previous books. However, it was easy to get up to date and be pulled into the story. The atmosphere was thrilling, and the descriptions of the sea, creatures, and attacks were strong. I think the strength of this book was writing when it was more 'scientific/non-fiction. The writing was weaker in the more emotional/drama-filled parts, or any of the female parts, the author writes the females extremely poorly with the worse being Terry. But overall it was a good entertaining story and makes me want to read Jaws or Meg 1, to see if they are better written.
