Though I'm now a sceptic, I've long had an interest in what people experience as 'the supernatural.' l invited John Olsen, the author/compiler of Stranger Bridgerland, to speak at my library in 2019 and was delighted to discover that he had not only collected a hoard of 'supernatural' stories, but also that he was an engaging storyteller. I decided to finally read his short book after I found myself retelling to my family some of the stories I had heard Olsen tell that night.

The book is self-published and badly in need of an editor, but the first-person narratives that it's composed of are wonderful. I'm so glad Olsen preserved them.

I read the second half at 2:00 AM in a room lit only by a dim lamp and accompanied by the sound of wind blowing through the trees outside. Several times I got chills and the hair on the back of my neck stood up. The story of the encounter with the children at the movie theater, which is near my house, was truly frightening!
