This book was fine— just a fun, cosy mystery. What dampened my enjoyment a bit was reading the previous reviews before diving into the book.

I never understand why books adored by others, including many who share my tastes, often don't resonate with me. I read comments like "laugh out loud funny" and "modern mystery," and I wonder if I'm reading the same storyline!

Yes, there were some chuckle-worthy moments. The main character seems to bumble her way through a series of disasters and somehow comes out smelling like roses, even while tangling with the mob.

Unfortunately, while the storyline was compelling, it was a bit too far-fetched for me. The bad guys seemed more like absolute idiots than crooks and killers, and there was nothing about the romance elements that I enjoyed.

However, the relationship between Finlay and Vero was lovely. We all need that one person who would help us get rid of the evidence if ever needed. I also think this is an easy, uncomplicated read that most people will find enjoyable and the ending left me wanting to read the next installment
