A Song Below Water by Bethany C. Morrow

5.0

So much a book for 2020. If you don't understand Black Lives Matter, this may be what you need. Or, as Wallace says, "[you] get it, but [you] don't want to say you disagree our loud" (rough paraphrase). The magical realism is perfect for unpacking concepts that may threaten your world view. As is the high school setting, as is the young-adult-but-really-for-everyone writing.
