The Future by Naomi Alderman

challenging tense medium-paced

2.0

This was absolutely fascinating, while simultaneously being one of the most boring books I have ever read. It continuously managed to keep my attention with the use of POV switches and forum posts with people arguing in the comments, though.

The story plods along, describing the new technology being created by tech billionaires while dropping little hints and clues to piece together in the final chapters. I picked up on these and guessed where the story was going quite easily, so I'm not sure if there was a use of a plot twist.

The final chapters became a little difficult to believe, slowly becoming more and more ridiculous as the story progressed. However, I was pleased to see my favourite characters get a good ending, and I have to commend it for it's diverse rep.
