I'm so, so happy I reread this. I first listened to the audiobook, which had a wonderful performance by the narrator, but I suspected I would absorb the book better in digital or physical format, and I was right. The writing in this really shines through, whimsical and contemplative, a perfect match to the magical setting and character-focused story. Though I like all the characters and lore, Torin and Sidra are definitely the highlight for me. I loved their development and how they found each other anew in their relationship. I can't wait for Adaira’s development in the second book though, and I hope we also get more from Jack.
