I originally wondered if it was necessary to read this book in the series as it strays from the main story. However, I read it in tandem with Empire of Storms and I’m so glad I did. 
This book not only explores Chaol and Nesryn more but also adds an array of worlds and characters that just give the whole series more depth. I love all the links with the assasins blade that keep popping up as well.
