The Bench by Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex

4.0

I'm not sure how so many bad reviews have been written before this was even released and when there were no advance reader copies? But I thought this was exceedingly sweet, with great intersectional characters that will allow young children to identify themselves and their families. The concept was lovely and the illustrations beautiful. Overall the message was well-intended and nicely delivered. This got a 4 star and not a 5 star as I think the ending message could have been stronger and at times the rhymes were a little clunky and this scope of this book is really for 1-4 years I think. But absolutely worth adding to the shelves for my nieces and nephews as the message this delivers is such an important one for children.
