I feel so conflicted towards this story.
For the entire novel I had theories about the supernatural things happening in the novel and how it would all play out at the end. I saw the truth so clearly the whole time and every plot twist coming. I wanted to be surprised by the end and satisfied but since I guessed everything it wasn’t that delightful.

On the other hand there were so many beautiful things in this novel, the setting for example, a remote Scottish island was brilliant for this kind of mysterious read. The blooming relationship between the nanny and Mary, the little girl was heartwarming to read.
Grief was also a huge part in the novel.

Overall I found π“π‘πž 𝐖𝐑𝐒𝐬𝐭π₯𝐒𝐧𝐠 a gripping and entertaining story that I enjoyed every second of it, even though I sometimes felt myself frustrated by how obvious the truth was and how Elspeth the nanny was too naive to realize it. I can recommend this one if you’re looking for a heartwarming ghost story of a nanny and a young girl’s relationship through grief.
