YOASOBI’s 『群青』(Gunjou) suddenly makes a lot more sense
- characters: 8.5/10. obviously there’s not a ton of development in this first volume but there’s definitely a lot of potential as the characters don’t seem to follow overused stereotypes. Yatora’s friends though…. i love them
- atmosphere: 10/10. even in b&w I could feel the paintings and sceneries. the sunrise in Shibuya, the school classrooms filled with the smell of oil paint…
- writing: 8/10. (one thing that caught me by surprise was that there were no kana for the kanjis so I had to rely on the dictionary to figure out some mysterious ideograms). the info dumpy bits were really easy to follow and the dialogues felt natural, I guess
- plot: 8/10. was a good introduction to the series and conflicts
- intrigue: 9/10. pretty self-explanatory, i was…. intrigued……..
- logic: 6/10.
I thought that the parents would be harsher given Yatori’s descriptions (but they were so sweet), and I didn’t think that Mori senpai would pass?? there weren’t any eye-roll-worthy contradictions or Very Questionable Things That Happened For The Sake of Plot but there was the standard amount of ‘oh ok let’s just accept that’ - enjoyment: 9/10. fun, informative, exciting! i’m curious to see where this story takes us!
