This is the type of writing I absolutely adore and admire, Claire Keegan and Sally Rooney's writing. They manage to describe these, if you only look on the surface, seemingly mundane and meaningless actions but make them expressive as they speak so much about the characters' feelings and state of well-being. The small details and moments now feel significant. The prose is succinct but feels so big. You don't have to wait for the author to explain to you what the characters are feeling and thinking, you can just look at the details and understand.
Oh and the cadence, it sings perfectly in my head. The prose almost feels poetic without having to be flowery. So readable and beautiful in a humble, comforting way.
