This book was amazing! It started a little wobbly, but I guess all fantasy has that in terms of world building in the first chapters. However, true gem after you get the heck of how things work.
I love how it isn't some parallel reality to ours but as if the plot is happening in this day and time... Phones, NFTs and so on.
Best I can describe "Book of Night" is dark urban fantasy.
Dark not only as a setting but also as motives...
I loved the Charlatan as a character. With all her flaws and effed up life. Her sister was a bit annoying, but oh well...
Vince was a sweetheart. We all know how we feel about shadow daddies. And he's a real one, hahaha.
The relationship between the two was top notch.
Then Lionel Salt might be one of the villains I felt so so so scared in my "reading career". His overpowered presence was all over the book, he seemed so clever and all, I couldn't help but feel happy when we saw him gone. Lovely.
I don't want to get into more details about what I loved if this book, but the end was a great plot twist and Holly Black should definitely write more adult fantasy. ❤️
