Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier
5.0
I read 3-5 “classics” each year. I really enjoyed this one! Imagine you are a young woman working hard for a cranky boss, and a rich older man sweeps you off your feet. He asks you to marry him and live in his gothic mansion. Of course you’ll say yes, at the very least because it beats your menial job.
Then you get to this mansion, and your new employees rave about the previous wife Rebecca. You learn she died less than a year ago, and now you’re trying to navigate this new life in the shadow of the former wife.
Shortest jury trial ever!
