Having never read any of the Percy Jackson books when I was younger, I wasn’t sure what I would think reading them as an adult, but I really enjoyed this first instalment! I’d have loved this series as a kid, but still love it now.
Percy is wonderfully sarcastic and funny, and I absolutely fell in love with Grover too. There was the perfect amount of suspense and action, and the story really kept me engaged the whole time I was reading. I’ll definitely be back for more of the series.
I read this as part of an attempted 24 hour readathon (but failed to stay awake the whole time), so it was a big tough to get through, but not by any fault of the book itself. No points taken off for that.
Overall, it was a really nice, digestible introduction to a lot of Greek mythology, which I’m quite new to as a reader. A very solid and enjoyable start to the series!
