Fugitive Telemetry by Martha Wells
5.0
"But whatever, now I just needed intel for threat assessment so I could figure out if GrayCris had killed the dead human or not and go back to my happy boring life on Preservation Fucking Station."
I am such a sucker for Murderbot learning how to live in the world around it, and Fugitive Telemetry gave me more of exactly what I wanted and love about this series. Fugitive Telemetry doesn't advance the plot of the overall story in the way that other books in the series do, but it's absolutely critical in advancing Murderbot itself.
Over the course of the story, Murderbot is learning to adapt to its new life on Preservation Station: it learns to process (even more!) complex feelings about itself, and it figures out how to work within a team. Which, sadly, means it has to figure out how to talk to humans voluntarily. And on top of all of that stress, it has to solve a murder.
My only issue with this Murderbot entry is that I wanted it to be longer. I require an endless supply of Murderbot.
